(Spalted) Oak Table

The specific tree of which the wood for this table comes from has ‘dried whilst standing’ and has then been invaded by the Fistulina hepatica aka the beefsteak fungus - an edible mushroom which really likes oak. This gives the beautiful dark colour to the wood which you normally don't get with oak.
